Hide Su style elegance in every inch of space
I specifically chose a garden view suite from Garden Hotel Suzhouin Suzhou this time. After staying for two days, the most intuitive feeling was that the room facilities here were never piled up with expensive configurations, but quietly incorporated the elegance of Suzhou style gardens into every detail of daily use.
Pushing open the door of the 65 square meter suite, without the cold hard marble and exaggerated crystal lights commonly seen in high-end hotels, the large area of light wood colored walls paired with Su embroidery dark patterns soft furnishings immediately relieved the fatigue of the journey. A hidden storage cabinet has been installed at the entrance, allowing luggage to be fully pushed in without appearing cluttered in the hallway. The cabinet door is also thoughtfully designed with a clothes hook, allowing windbreakers that have just returned from outside to be hung up easily without having to run to the dressing room. The sense of comfort in the details begins from the moment they enter.
The most surprising thing is the whole piece of Su style lattice french window facing the window. Instead of blocking the scenery outside the window with a heavy shade, it is equipped with two layers of screens. The inner screen is opened in the daytime, and the plantain, the Taihu Lake stone and half pond lotus in the courtyard are like a living Suzhou embroidery painting, directly spread in front of you. The sunlight falls through the gaps in the flower grid onto the floor, leaving scattered patterns. Even if you spend the whole day working in your room, you can easily see the flowing garden scenery without feeling stuffy.
The bedding in the bedroom is custom-made high count cotton from the hotel, which feels soft and does not collapse. The support is just suitable for the fatigue after a long journey, and you can relax in just a few minutes after lying down. The control panel at the head of the bed has a metal frame with a Su style pattern, and all the switches for lights and curtains are clearly marked, so there is no need to search for buttons in the dark. The most thoughtful thing is that hidden USB charging ports are designed on both sides of the bed, so you don't have to look for sockets everywhere. You can easily charge your phone before going to bed.
The independent bathroom space has no sense of confinement at all. The dry and wet separation design completely separates the shower area from the bathtub. The 1.7-meter deep soaking bathtub faces a small observation window. After strolling in the garden during the day and soaking in hot water for half an hour, you can look up and see the cinnamon trees outside the window. Even the atmosphere of taking a bath is wrapped in Su style tenderness. The bathroom supplies are a customized herbal series from the hotel, with a faint fragrance of osmanthus. After taking a shower, the entire room is filled with a light fragrance, completely devoid of the pungent sensation of ordinary hotel toiletries.
The solid wood desk in the study area is spacious and sturdy, and the accompanying ergonomic chair provides ample support. Even if you sit continuously for two hours to handle work, you won't have back pain. The Su style celadon tea set on the table is pre prepared with local Bi Luo Chun. In the hidden mini bar next to it, there are free Suzhou style osmanthus soda and Ding Sheng cake. You don't have to go downstairs to buy souvenirs, you can taste the authentic Su style flavor in your room.
After two days of living, there were no unnecessary facilities, and every configuration perfectly met the needs of daily use, hiding the exquisite Su style in every detail that could be touched with just a lift of the hand. I didn't squeeze into the popular homestay on Pingjiang Road during my visit to Suzhou this time. Instead, I stayed at Garden Hotel Suzhou for three days and realized that I didn't need to rush to tourist attractions. I could make my slow life in Suzhou a daily routine by hiding in this garden hotel hidden in the bustling city.
The location of the hotel is really amazing. It's only a ten minute walk to the Webmaster Garden, and taking a taxi to the Humble Administrator's Garden and Pingjiang Road is also within a ten minute drive, but you can't hear the sound of cars and horses in the bustling city at all. At the moment of entering, it was like entering a hidden Jiangnan garden. The bluestone road winds along the rockery pond, and the branches and leaves of camphor trees cover the sky, even the sound of wind passing through the leaves carries the unique softness of Suzhou. When checking in, the front desk lady smiled and handed me a glass of chilled osmanthus honey water. She also specially drew a hand drawn map for me, indicating the less crowded lotus viewing spots in the garden. She said that if I went out in the evening, I could catch a pond full of lotus flowers reflecting the sunset glow.
The garden view room I live in is amazing when I open the door. The wooden window lattice is facing the plantain and the Taihu Lake Lake stone in the small courtyard. When I open the window, I can smell the osmanthus fragrance in the courtyard. There are no excessive luxurious decorations piled up in the room. The Suzhou embroidered pillows and celadon tea sets exude elegance everywhere, and the warmth of old Suzhou is hidden in every detail. In the early morning, I was awakened by the chirping of birds outside the window. When I pushed open the window, I saw that the morning mist in the garden had not yet dissipated. The cleaning lady was gently sweeping the fallen leaves with a broom, even moving very lightly, afraid of disturbing the quietness of the courtyard.
The most unforgettable time is wandering in the garden. Walking slowly along the lotus pond, you can see the flying eaves of pavilions and towers reflected on the water surface. Occasionally, a few koi fish swim by, stirring up the scattered clouds in the pond. There are several historical sites hidden in the hotel. Walking slowly along the signs, you can touch the old brick walls of the past and listen to the stories told by passing old employees. It's much more comfortable than crowded in popular tourist attractions and listening to explanations. The breakfast buffet in the morning was full of authentic Su style flavors, including freshly steamed crab roe soup dumplings, sticky osmanthus candy taro, and thick Su style noodles that hadn't been repeated for two days. Sitting by the window, enjoying the garden scenery while eating, even the breakfast was particularly delicious.
In the evening, if you don't want to go out, go to the tea house in the garden and order a cup of Biluochun. Sit on the porch and enjoy the evening breeze, watching the sunset stretch the shadow of the rockery for a long time. Next to you, Old Suzhou sits on a stone bench playing chess. The crisp sound of chess pieces falling on the board, mixed with the distant cicada chirping, is the most authentic Suzhou summer night. After staying for three days, I didn't even rush to a few popular attractions, but it was closer to the temperament of this city than any previous visit to Suzhou.
The best experience in Suzhou is never to rush to check-in, but to live in a garden hidden in the bustling city, slow down your pace, and let the Suzhou breeze slowly blow into your daily life.
